Designer Proof Service: What We Check & What We Don't
At BlockbusterPrint.com, our Designer Proof Service is designed to help ensure your artwork meets the technical requirements for professional printing. Our goal is to identify potential production issues before your order goes to press, helping you achieve a properly formatted, professionally finished product.
What Our Designer Proof Service Includes
Our team reviews your artwork for technical printing requirements, including:
- Image Resolution: Checking for adequate resolution, typically 300 DPI, to help prevent blurry or pixelated printing.
- Correct Dimensions: Verifying that your artwork matches the size of the product ordered.
- Bleed Requirements: Checking that backgrounds and images extend beyond the trim line where necessary.
- Safe Zones: Identifying text, logos, and important elements positioned too close to the cutting edge.
- Panel Alignment: For example, when reviewing a brochure, we inspect the folded zones for proper panel positioning and alignment. The same applies for all other products and their respective printing requirements.
- Print-Ready Formatting: Identifying technical file issues that may interfere with proper production.
These are measurable printing requirements. For example, a logo should not be unintentionally trimmed, brochure panels should align correctly, and artwork should match the product's ordered dimensions.
What Our Designer Proof Service Does Not Include
Color correction, color balancing, saturation adjustments, creative design changes, and spelling or grammar checks are not included in our proofing service.
Unlike technical print specifications, color preferences are subjective. One customer may prefer vibrant, warm reds, while another prefers softer, more muted tones. Neither preference is inherently right or wrong.
Think of it like ordering a steak: some prefer medium-rare, others well-done. The chef's responsibility is to prepare it according to the customer's selection, not change that selection based on personal preference.
Similarly, our responsibility as your printer is to reproduce your supplied artwork through our printing process, not reinterpret your creative choices.
We do not automatically adjust artwork that appears too red, blue, dark, bright, or saturated, because those colors may be exactly what the designer intended. This is why we will never pause or delay your project to question whether your selected color levels reflect your intentions. You hired us to professionally print your artwork, not participate in your creative design process. Our responsibility is to faithfully reproduce your design while respecting the creative choices you've made.
Your artwork's color selections remain the responsibility of the customer or original designer.
Spelling, Grammar & Content Accuracy: Our Designer Proof Service does not include proofreading, spell-checking, grammar corrections, or verification of names, phone numbers, addresses, dates, pricing, or other written content. Customers are responsible for carefully reviewing and approving all text before submitting their artwork for printing.
What If You're Unhappy With Your Printed Colors?
We're always happy to help!
If your finished product contains colors you would prefer to change, our team can help you better understand your concerns and identify possible areas to review with your designer.
However, reprinting an unchanged file will not correct color values already present in the original artwork. The artwork must first be adjusted before a new printing is ordered.
Although creative color editing falls outside our Designer Proof Service, we understand that mistakes and unexpected results happen.
As a courtesy, we may offer discounted reprints and absorb a portion of the production cost when customers wish to revise their original artwork.
